Easter long weekend is the perfect opportunity to get family and friends together for outdoor socialising before the days grow shorter and too cold for comfort. It’s a great Aussie tradition, so here’s a few reasons why you should add it to your family’s event calendar.
Easter camping combines our love of the outdoors with cheerful optimism that it’s not going to rain the whole time you’re away. And, if you live in a state where daylight savings is in place, then you fully understand that April is the last hurrah for long summer days and delightful twilight evenings. Cooler nights and milder daytime temperatures are optimal camping weather – it’s still warm enough for swimming, pleasant for an evening BBQ and the nights are comfortable for sleeping under canvas – so any time you can string together a few public holidays is a reason to get out there and celebrate.
A campfire is the pinnacle of outdoor camping, and in autumn you’re more likely to be able to have one outside, as many fire ban periods have come to an end – but always check the local area’s information beforehand.
Beyond the classic bacon and eggs or sausages on the BBQ, Easter camping – along with the availability of campfires – provides the opportunity for something a little more nourishing and delectable. The cooler afternoons and chilly evenings make hearty one-pot stews, roasts and classic damper much more inviting.
It isn’t hard to argue that some of the most memorable times are spent around the campfire with good friends and a strong scotch – a well-stocked camping fridge can make even the most trying weather conditions bearable and happy hour in an Aussie camping ground is a thing of wonder. There are more laughs and smiles per square metre than at a Wiggles concert! And if you haven’t experienced this, Easter is a great time to discover it.
So, pack the camper trailer, throw the kids in the back and get out there – just don’t forget the chocolate eggs!
At Mars Campers we work hard to develop the best value for money camper trailers with a view of helping you create memorable experiences with your loved ones.
